OK - most of these responses look either confused or rude. I am a physicist by education but do not work in the field of particle physics. Please take comfort in the fact that the particle interaction in the LHC occurs throughout the universe without destroying it. The CERN experiment is just trying to recreate a natural process in the laboratory so they can closely track the results and try to verify one parameter in a very complicated mathematical theory of the universe. Stay happy!

The same scientist who built and running the LHC said there is potential for creating black holes. There is no high eneregy collision in 5 hours just lowe energy test. It would take the BH years to destroy earth, get your head out of your butt.

most the shit u said about the strange matter and what was after it is actually wrong ^^
strange matter using no scientific jargon, is a kind of "energy". There are lots of kinds of "energy" in the forms of Quarks, which interact to create matter such as protons and neutrons and electrons.
Strange matter is another kind of destructive doomsday "energy"

black holes are everywhere, including your body. the universe could not function without them. we have to change our image of black holes. they emit electromagnatism which is what gives matter its form. the force of the vacum has to do with the size of the event horizon. sub atomic black holes couldnt be dangerous to us. the idea that we, in this magnificantly vast, complex, and diverse universe that created us, could alter anything fundamental to the structure of all that is, is proposterous

OK, that's enough bs. Notice I made this video a year ago and have learned more about the lhc since then. I'm not interested in the petty, misogynistic remarks of mainstream youtube. CERN needs 6 months to warm up the LHC to make repairs and cool it back down. It will take 4 years to get itg operational.
That will be 2012.
Doomsdayers will go into orbit over that, since:
--2012 is the Mayan mathematical end of the world.
--the next presidential administration is going to give us tough options, lots of work, and change
--2012 is the next election cycle.
