Sounds OK,,.. a good attempt,. but very far from the 5 string banjo technique that is on the original recording. The swept strumming on the lower strings gives it away. Using Pyramid [ the original German] strings and the toaster P/U`s will give the early 60`s accurate sound. Good job.

Actually I do play it the other way and I put a snippet of the same song up using the flat pick/fingerpick technique similar to McGuinn...although he is the Master of the Rickenbakcer 12-string no doubt. This version is a simplified version for anyone who wants to learn the basics of the song. -BC

Hi Buddy,
thank You. You play and You sound fantastic! I like Your clips very much. I recently bought a neerly new Rickenbacker 620/12 from 2007, it has the new open headstock. Now its easier to change the second pair of strings. The 620/12 has the Hi-gain pickups, but I like them on this solidbody. Perhaps I will later change to the 7,4 Ohm Toasters, if I get them here in Germany. The 620/12 has a sustain, that's not necessary to play through a compressor.

Buddy, you say you use a "little" compression on your Rickenbackers? Do you use a Janglebox? If not, check them out. You'll love the jingle/jangle on one of those.

Frankly...I can play it this way and the other way...which I do often...and I posted a short snippet of such demonstrating the said technique...but most folks that take the time to make those types of "technical" comments probably can't play nearly as many different styles...as the old guys like me. Life goes on...and I'm not here to worry over who likes me or who doesn't. I just do what I do and people like it or they don't. Peace to all. Thanks for watching . -BC

I'm blown away! You play very close to Roger McGuinn's style and even do justice to the Beatles classics. I have been in love with Rickenbacker guitals for many years, especially the 12 string and hope to own one one day. Unfortunatly, as I am left-handed (expensive!!) I would get the classic trapeze bridge as an upside-down "R" looks bad 2 me. I have rec your trax on cd so I can listen 2 them at all times, I hope this is ok with you. Great work! I could listen to a Ric all day! Do U have a cd?
Thanks! Check out ... ( 3 weeks ago by BuddyClontz)
Thanks! Check out some of the other videos. I used different picking techniques on different videos and you'll hear it in the solos especially. I don't have a CD out but I am on some tracs on some other CD's out there. -BC

Thanks! I did a short version of the same song using a more accurate technique so you might want to check that one out also for reference. -BC

Hi Buddy. Lovely piece. I'm waiting on delivery of my first 12 string( Italia Rimini). Any do's & dont's with the 12? I'm worried about tuning on the fly at a gig especially on a cold night going to a warm bar or club. Had a Ric 330 6 last year. Great sound but that delicate neck all wrong for my bunch of bananas hands.

Sounds great. I finally received my 12 string Ric from Musicians Friend after waiting over a year and a half. Now I have three 12 strings, one acoustic and two elec. the Carvin was purchased after the Ric was back ordered for the 4th time and I didn't think Musicians friend was going to ever get it to me. You can never have too many guitars, my wife doesn't get it. Keep jamming. CW

Thank You! I am using a Fender Hot Rod DeVille Tube amp with four 10" speakers. It's a good combination with the Rickenbacker and some compression. -BC

Congratulations! I hope you get it also. You will love the Rickenbacker...but be patient with it because it will take some getting used to. They are as fine an instrument as any made and nothing sounds quite like them. -BC
