People do have values, they're supposed to and you're supposed also to chose based on that.
Now, not any religion is ought to be good, because it's a religion. So that's another problem.
Even more, some religions don't even declare that being good is the main purpose or is positive.
I'll avoid to put examples but there are religions for instance who encourage lying for the purpose of winning over other religions.

Oh and to answer your question, I only look for two things in a political candidate: Strength and wisdom. Spirituality and religion should be something personal and not legislated. Religion and Politics is deadly when mixed.

I view it simply as government will not endorse any religion because as we know there are so many in America. That is to say there will not be a religious government agency.
Also religious person is voted into office because of a majority of people voting are of that religion. That person will represent the people with those values, and make laws with those views in mind, but he cannot violate the minority, or their rights to practice their beliefs.

You've misunderstood me. I am not an ugly, out of shape, bitter person. Quite the contrary actually. I take care of both my mind and my body, as opposed to letting myself go like so many other lazy americans. I have no problem with people looking good, per se. I have a problem with them having nothing else to propel them forward and of being essentially void of all substance because they believe their looks are a meal ticket.

I don't think politician should mention that very popular sentence of theirs at the end of electoral periods "god bless you" what about the atheists then? They need to choose a candidate over their religious beliefs (better than politicians then). But no, in political terms, politics is diplomacy and religion is a personal belief to be kept to one's own and share only with close friends and relatives when possible. Religion,it's like undewears.
