should've driven one.. i drove the mps twice, after the second drive i went to vw drove the golf n yeah put my money down. the mps is quicker stock but runs more boost and uses more fuel 10l/100k compared to 8l in the golf. I'm not saying the MPS is a bad car because i'd be a fool if i did i mean for me its a close second way ahead of the civic type r, astra vxr, or wrx. Interior jus felt a lil low rent n seemed noisy/twitchy over bumps. It's down to personal pref tho hey

Were you running stock tires, or did you have drag radials/maybe slicks on the front? Just curious. EVERYTHING on the car is "stock as a rock" ? ;)

Car running standard wheels and tires. I did lower the pressure from the standard 36psi down to about 20psi from memory.

NICE... that's some good times, those are about the best you can get on a stock Mazdaspeed3, like the best times are 13.7s for the stock Mazdaspeed6... Good driving man... Can you explain to me how you launch? I'm always curious how people launch the speed3/6s. I have a Mazdaspeed6.

It did? STANDARD? or as an option? Did you order one or was it on the lot? oh yeah and where do you live? I live in the states, none of my friend's speed3s or speed6s have tire pressure sensors, so I think it's an option here.

I bought mine right off the lot, I did get the GT model so maybe that is a standard on that model. I know I have it because it went off on me a couple of weeks ago. I live in US.

Yeah I think that one came with the tire pressure sensor as an added option, I live in FL so there are a few people here with speed6s and speed3s, I know 2 that have GT speed3s but they don't have TPS on their car... must be nice though I'd love to have it on my speed6, wonder how much it would cost to install?

Funny thing is the MS3 isn't really made for the quarter mile. Unless he had a boost controller, his boost is limited in 1st and 2nd gear to prevent wheel spin. While the MS3 is pretty quick in the quarter mile, he probably would have toasted the Evo in a half mile drag race.

Ah, that's probably what it is then... because my friends have 07/08 and They don't have a TPS on their cars. How does it work? Where is it located on the dash? Do you find it annoying or helpful to know when your tires are low on air?

I'm not certain where the light is located on the dash, since my car is only 2 months old =) but the tps is a sensor that is on the valve stem on the rim. I figure it works the same as it does on my 05 pathfinder. It freaks me out when it does go off on my pf since it's a loud beep and then the light goes on, but I find it nice since it won't let you go under inflated.

LOL, understand able, I think your manual would be able to tell you though... if you flip to the back of the index under T. I'm kind of wondering how it works for the speed3. Is it a loud beep and a light? I thought it would be something cool that would allow you to see the PSI in each tire... That's something I want, ha.

Wow. Great run and everything but try getting that time without using 100 octane fuel and leave your tire pressures at normal and see what you get; not 13.9 I believe.

For your info, AUS and USA octane ratings are not the same. Our basic unleaded is 91 octane, where as 91 is your premium. With this, my 100 octane isn't rocket fuel as its only 2 octane higher than the most commonly used premium fuel in our cars here.

Exactly. 100 for you in Australia would be like 95 for people in the U.S. but we do not have octane that high here. Use 98 octane and see what you get in times; since it compares to our highest octane here of 93.

Many would suggest that running an octane higher than what you have been tuned for would have little to no effect given that octane rating is all about the fuel being resistant to detination, and less about calorific value. In fact it's usually the case that calorific value of the fuel stays the the same, and sometimes even decreases!
Im summary, with 98 octane I reckon I'd be good for consistent 13.2s passes - that is all. ;-)
