These folks seemed surprised by Colin Powell's unwillingness to basically trash the president. Isn't there an ethical code within the military (past or present) not to trash the commander-in-chief?

Isn't there an ethical code within the mititary to protect America, her people, and our troops? If the commander-in-chief went so far as to lie to the American people an' took our military into a war that cost thousands of lives; I would expect our military to question that commander-in-chief, so as to protect our troops.

Bush's diehard supporters think those that are disgusted with Bush are just anti-Bush, as if it's a kneejerk reaction, like theirs to Clinton. The American people are angry because they resent Bush's fearmongering and divisive policies, his reckless warmongering, his undermining of the Constitution, his politicizing of everything he touches, and his lying to the American public. When generals come out against their Commander in Chief, there's a deep-roated problem with that president.

Great post as usual Dafttool...you hit it right on the head. They use the term "Bush Bashing" as though it's completely illogical to dislike him, as though he's just come into office and he's done nothing wrong. Disliking him because he urinates on the constitution, I would say is a pretty good reason.

The President is Commander-in-Chief ONLY of active duty members of the military. Powell retired from the Army in 1993. When he was Secretary of State Bush was not his Commander-in-Chief.
