i dont think so subaru has spent to much into the hatch and are using it in raly comps allrdy its a better drive on the track somthing that the sedan couldent do the best ur gunna get is the 09 wrx sedan which will have a better sespesion and more hp
wow are u a fag or ... ( 3 months ago by darkwatari)
wow are u a fag or what the sti can get up to 30 mpg and a 17-19 mpg when revbing it to 6 rpm shits all the time
Car and Driver ... ( 2 months ago by genYprogressive)
Car and Driver tested both and the 05 sedan was faster on a road course than the new car.
The hard facts are that the only performance improvement the new car has is braking. THe hatch 70-0 was 153 feet compared with the sedan 70-0 which was 157 feet.
Since the old sedan outsold it 3 to 1 Subaru will come back to the STi sedan in 2011.

2004, 2005, 2006,and maybe 2007 sti in america was based off of the sti spec c, which is lighter and has some handling upgrades. since the 2008 spec c isnt out yet, the 2008 sti is just based on the regular sti. thats why the 2005 was faster in their test. and why would they go back to the sedan when the hatch is doing better in rally?

Nice try but the 05 has the same performance numbers as the 04 STi when it was tested in July of 2003.

You shouldn't take Car and Driver's #'s as the Bible. Edmund's #'s show the 08 STi to perform better for the most part, especially with braking, skidpad, and slalom, despite the lack of said "RAWNESS". It's all in the driver. People are already getting similar or even faster numbers in the 1/4 mile (stock) with their 08 STi. It's all in the driver. It now also gets better (more usable) gains mod for mod due to Dual AVCS. Surgeline Tuning and Crawford Perf. can vouch for that.
Petter Solberg must ... ( 1 month ago by shinobi594)
Petter Solberg must not know what he was talking about when he urged Subaru to change the "15 YR OLD" design of the Impreza to a hatchback... Oh wait, he's an ACTUAL WRC Rally Car Driver... maybe he does know what he's talking about after all lol

Nice try but the 2.0 4cyl rally STi is as close to the stock street 2.5 STi as the LeMans C6R Corvette is to the stock street C6 Z06 vette.
People don't care about how fast the rally car is because that is not the one that we buy to drive on the street.

I am not relying on C&D numbers. Road and Track also called the 08 STi a dissapointment and said they hate everything about it except the interrior. NOBODY has EVER gotten better numbers in the new car EXPECIALLY in handeling. You say that they report better 1/4 mile numbers than 13.2 in a STOCK 08 STi because that is what the best driver in the best conditions got out of an 05 STi. This is complete bullshit. Michael Schumacher couldn't get those kind of numbers out of a stock 08 STi.

You are right is is in the driver. Car and Driver testers are professional drivers that test all the cars with a full tank of gas and 10 pounds of test gear. THey are not weekend warriors like Edmonds are.
The sad truth is that the hatch diminished the structural rigidity found in the sedan and softened the suspention and gave it mulish understeer. All of this for a softer ride and more cargo room.
The 08 STi is no longer an STi. Now it is just an AWD MazdaSpeed3.
Funny how those " ... ( 1 month ago by shinobi594)
Funny how those "professional" testers got crappy times and yet "weekend drivers" like Edmunds got better times...
Where's the proof that rigidity is diminished on the new car? Have you seen an actual back to back comparison between a GD and a GR? There's a vid on here that tests both and shows that the GR is faster on the circuit. The new vids are on my page. If anything, these comparisons are better than bench racing with data from different dates and times.
.89gs will not out ... ( 1 month ago by genYprogressive)
.89gs will not out corner .93gs. and 68.2 slalom mph is not faster than 69.8 mph
To show how bad the 08 STi is in the November Car and Driver Lightning lap the STi got 3.19.0 and a Colbalt SS got 3.13.0
Thats right the new STi got its nuts handed to it by a freaking 260hp Chevy Colbalt SS Turbo. Ian Litchfield makes some of the best tunner STis is on record for saying that the handeling in the 08 model is inferior to it's predesessor. Also the sedan outsold the hatch almost 2 to 1.
If they wanted a ... ( 1 month ago by genYprogressive)
If they wanted a real comparison ath the Tsukuba competion they would run each car a lap ALONE not all together.
Another thing that proves that race was a fluke was that the new STi was ahed of both new EVOs as well, and even STi fans admit that both EVO Xs utterly destroy the STi hatch on a road course.
You don't need to ... ( 1 month ago by shinobi594)
You don't need to lap each car alone to compare. Just seeing a car increasing the gap at corner exit speed will show which one is faster. Are you watching the same vid I told you to watch? Watch it again.
So using the lowest ... ( 1 month ago by shinobi594)
So using the lowest recorded slalom speed for an 08 STi and comparing it to the fastest slalom speed on a GD is fair? There was also a recorded slalom speed of .93g on an 08 as well. I'm willing to bet that an 04-07 STi won't fair any better at that lightning lap either, even if that whole article is BS.
Ian Litchfield ... ( 1 month ago by shinobi594)
Ian Litchfield saying the 08 STi is inferior? that's news to me. Something like that should be all over iwsti or NASIOC yet it's not there or anywhere in the net. Show me the link.
I've seen LOTS of 04-07 STi's get it's nuts handed to it by SRT-4s and Mazdaspeed3's... I'm gonna guess the 04-07s would get it's nuts ripped off by the CObalt SS as well.
BTW: Edmunds got 72mph slalom speed on the 08 STi... That's the FASTEST they got out of a Subaru yet... Must be BS right? lol

"Another thing that proves that race was a fluke was that the new STi was ahed of both new EVOs as well, and even STi fans admit that both EVO Xs utterly destroy the STi hatch on a road course"
Right... Just like the Older Evos utterly smacked the older STi's on a road course as well on every US magazine article. What's new? lol
BTW: The Evo vs STi match-up from Best Motoring had the STi start at the BACK. and It walked both Evo X's, an Evo IX, and an 07 STi.
If they ran 72mph ... ( 1 month ago by genYprogressive)
If they ran 72mph and .93gs with the 08 is was not with stock tires. They have recorded those numbers whith the softer Pirelli tires, not the rock hard Bridgestones that C@D used.
People are not buying the new model for a reason. Laggy engine, Body roll, and understeer. Not just a bad economy and gas prices.
Drop this argument you have lost it.
Pirelli? Edmunds ... ( 1 month ago by shinobi594)
Pirelli? Edmunds was using STOCK Dunlop SP600s which are reportedly INFERIOR to the older Potenza RE70's, which is STILL used in the new 08 JDM model.
If anything, the 04-07's engines lag more... Torque comes in sooner at 4000rpm in the new motor. Body Roll and understeer are EASILY remedied by sways, camber, and susp. mods, unless you are restricted by AutoX rules, which STILL give you an advantage with the WIDER stock contact patch on the new car.
You drop the argument.
Quoted from Edmunds ... ( 1 month ago by shinobi594)
Quoted from Edmunds: "At the test track, the sum of these changes helps the 2008 STI to a 72.0-mph slalom run, blowing the 2006 STI's 68.1-mph speed out of the water. The last Mitsubishi Evo IX we tested went 70.7 mph, which is closer, but still no cigar."
