do you think that the whole world revolves around guitars or something? that ever instrument COME FROM the guitar? did you ever think that some instrument came BEFORE guitar?
I'm sure these have been around long before guitars as you know of them today.
even in western culture there are many stringed fretted and fretless instruments that came way before guitar.
this instrument isn't even playing western music, so basically no, its not like a fretless guitar.

i dont know if they would think of their music as based on the western scale. but it plays the equivalent pitches to those notes im sure, and everything in between.

What makes the shamisen different from any other instrument is that it's an Intensley spiritual instrument. Probably the most intense spiritual instrument I have ever heard.
