Capoeira is purely Brazilian. It was never born in Africa. It was created here in Brazil by african slaves. Try travelling to Angola and asking if they know Capoeira.There is no register in history that capoeira was developed in the African continent before or even after.We have 2 styles, Capoeira Angola and Regional.Capoeira was not brought, it was born in Brazil.
The "Angola" Style is a cultural root tribute - not a proof that they played it.CAPOEIRA is from Brazil, created by african slaves.

Alessandrobrs is completely correct, people. Capoeira is a culmination of customs from different enslaved African cultures and social influences in Brazil of the time. The game as we know it never existed in Africa until more recent times.
I attended an anthropology lecture on the topic once... lol

Glad you liked the film. It was shot using a HD camera, the Panasonic VariCam...which has a variable frame rate of between 4 and 60 fps. It's a great HD camera for shooting slow motion action shots.

Capoeira's origins are not at all clear. It is a combination of African and Brazilian martial arts, but camps are generally divided between those who believe it is a direct descendant of African fighting styles and those who believe it is a uniquely Brazilian dance form distilled from various African and Brazilian influences. The best working theory is that it's an African fighting style that was developed in Brazil.

Capoeira more of a dance than anything, but when applied it can used in a major kick ass manor. I wanted to use a metaphor like capoiera is like a flower or something that could be used to create a poison but i couldn't think of any... :( anyone got ideas?
