One of us was really close friends with a brasileira and we also encountered a particular brasileiro quite often in our social circles.
But really, we both speak Spanish and so we've thought if we can speak that, learning Portuguese probably can't be too hard for the little work it would take, so we've listened to Portuguese radio (aha, from Portugal, not Brazil) and the words that we recognize there that sound like Spanish words, we can later use them in Fortuguês.

Fortuguês is Português with the first letter of the word FAKE! Fake Portuguese=Fortuguese. Basically we do Spanish with a Portuguese accent, hoping to get something right.
