I say that the russians helped because they drew attention away but they did sighn a peace treaty in the begining spliting the town of norway or... i forgot the name. They helped a little but they soon stopped because the needed to solve problems of their own.

I've walked that beach and waded through the water, a very humbling experience. I was stationed in Germany for many years and my son was born in Germany on 6 June '91, kind of ironic.

what other way? send 50,000 planes carrying 200,000 troops and drop them in Paris? 5000+ died out of the 130,000 that landed on D-Day, you have no land to do a land invasion so its either water or air... they chose both.
