The Oscar is bigger...the Golden Globes are the precursors to the Oscars, and the winners of the GG's are considered front-runners for Oscars. An indication that they are bigger is the fact that there are two separate categories for GGs: musical or comedy, and drama. With the Oscars, there are only two male categories and two female categories, regardless of the type of movie. It's kind of like a tournament, and how the pool of competitors shrinks with each round.
