1. Christopher Hitchens is an American citizen.
2. He is a libertarian, and therefore generally favors the Republican party over the Democratic. He is not just some left-wing fanatic, as "poldiddy" would have you think (although he is certainly far from conservative). In his own words, he "slightly favored" G.W. Bush in both elections.

I don't think they cut him off, the host was giving him ample time to speak, he would have probably been directed to cut him off verbally before they do something like that with a commercial. Cutting with a commercial is one of the last things they would do, because it looks and sounds AWFUL and not professional.
