my dad flew the sr 71 and was a very capable aircraft, the only way to even presently, bring down this aircraft is the same way that the u-2 was put down, they shot a missile, which hit a russian aircraft under de u-2 and the implotion made de u-2 fall, the blackbird can't be torn down even with the new "space missiles" because the speed of the aircraft, however it was a spy plane...not use for those anymore...satelites anyone?¿?¿

This superb plane was countless years ahead of its time. Of the the greatest feats of engineering of all time imo. Undoubtedly the most the most beautiful and 'advanced-for-its-time' aircraft ever.... The Skunkworks is an amazing place :)

Hmm first of all the F-14 wasn't delta-wing it was Swing-Wing secondly I don't think the Americans use a Delta-wing currently, but they did use the Convair F-106.

It should probably have been pointed out long ago that "Blackbird" was never an officially designated name of the SR-71, the way "Raptor" is for the F-22 or "Lightning" for the P-38.
