All these new re-hash kiddie thrash bands are useless. None of them are even close to the OG's from the 80's. The songwriting is total bush league compared to 'Kill'em All', 'Spreading the Disease', 'Bonded By Blood', 'Peace Sells', 'Feel the Fire', 'Hell Awaits' and all the other albums that helped define the genre.

No way man, it's just YOU got older, that's all. I am 30 and I love 80s thrash, but I am totally excited about this new wave of bands. The kids may be still young, so the lyrics are not that profound YET, but give them 5 years or so and they will deliver. Their musicianship already kicks mayor ass, it's just the lyrical work that needs maturity. If you listen to Haunting the Chapel today the lyrics sound childish, but back in the days when we were teenagers they were awesome.

1) If I want to hear 'mature' lyrics I'm not looking for it in thrash. Not then (although there were exceptions to the rule, like SReich or WatchTower) and not now. 2) The pioneers of thrash didn't need 5 years after their debut to 'deliver' - they delivered from day one, be it Metallica, Exodus, M'deth, Anthrax or Overkill. 3) Good musicianship is fine 'n all but none of these bands have even an ounce of originality - this is all 3rd rate rehash so far & as bland as the 78th Killswitch ripoff.

How is that for maturing the lyrical theme after two albums/4 yearsm huh?? Give the kids time man, back in the days there were probably some haters like you saying that Metallica were a ripoff of older bands like Sabbath or Motörhead.

1) I've never heard anyone call Metallica a Sabbath ripoff - not even back in the KEA days. Fact is: as much as they had their influences, Metallica did have their own sound from day 1.
2) I've never met anybody who listens to thrash or metal in general for the lyrics. If they're good - that's icing on the cake. But who gives a shit about lyrics if the riffs don't kill and the songs don't blow you away? That's Y thrash got big in the first place - the music was killer AND original! Unlike now.

Well, in this age and time. Most of the great stuff has already been done. It's much harder to be original now. Even so, this new wave is pure Thrash Material. Not as original as the 80ies Thrash bands but still awesome.

Warbringer gives me (at 39) what I felt back in the early- mid 80's when Thrash was the new shit. A nice fucking riff you could chew on and sheer energy in the performance. I hope John takes care of his throat, I can hear the stress in it when he is speaking. He probably can't resist the temptation to scream all out all the time. Dream come true to be were they are right now so it's like "fuck it! Go all out!"
