Very nice voice, but I get the feeling that he needs the microphone -- he occasionally loses his richer tones and sounds thin. His pitch is consistent; well-phrased and emoted -- he sounds better than many professionals I've heard.

agreed. The microphone allows better phrasing for this piece, but his voice lacks the raw power that others need without it.
But this more lyrical version isn't bad at all.
