January 8th 2007
After a long drawn out ballet practice, Bridget was happy to be walking back to her dorms where a comfortable plush bed would meet her.
While she walked, she flipped open her phone and turned it on. After loading up, the first thing she saw was that she had new voicemails.
Bridget called her voicemail, punched in the unlocking code, and listened to the automated system.
"twenty five new messages" said the machine
"holy sh-"
The machine continued "Message one from phone number 020-555-7432, received January 8th at 7:10 PM."
"Bridget!" came Alexandria's voice through the receiver, "I need you!"
The automated voice came on again "to delete this message press 7, to save-"
Bridget pressed seven
"next message from phone number 020-555-7432, received January 8th at 7:15 PM."
The machine said
"Where the hell are you? Don't you ever pick up your phone woman?" yelled Alexandria.
Again the answering machine asked if she wanted to delete the message. After deleting the next recording came on
Alexandria's voice came on again "why wont you call me back?"
"jeeze the way she's carrying on you'd think we had a one night stand or something" Bridget thought to herself as the next message began to play
"PICK UP! PICK UP! PICK UP!" Alexandria yelled so loudly she had to hold her phone away from her face, "THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!"
"so much for a leisurely stroll back to our dorm" Bridget thought as she quickened her pace. She didn't have to check the other messages to know that they were probably all still from Alexandria.
Upon arriving, she let her tote bag fall from her arm and scanned the living room for Alexandria.
"Oy I'm here" she yelled out "where are you?"
"in my room smart one" came a muffled response from Alexandria's room
She asked walking toward the room and opening the door and looked for Alexandria again but couldn't see her.
"did you get stuck in your closet again?"
Alexandria's voice came from underneath a pile of clothes on her bed "no. but I wish I had because then I wouldn't have to go on this horrid date"
Bridget walked to the pile and dug her friend out "what date? With who?"
Alexandria smoothed herself down "with my boyfriend, Nick and Miley"
Bridget looked visibly shocked.
"what boyfriend? Since when?"
"Stan and since this morning" Alexandria answered.
"wow. Er, congratulations?"
"thanks" Alexandria said without emotion
