The Hurricanes were the most hated team when they came to Carolina in 1997. They are still hated by some fans out there. They didn't win the Stanley Cup in 2002 (that was good for the almost all the fans who wanted Detroit to win), but when they won it in 2006 against Edmonton, almost nobody cared around the league, even Canada too.
