Þetta er ekkert mál - Jón Páll Sigmarsson

Uploaded by: AtlanticIslander
Video Description:
This is a documentary made by Hjalti Arnason in collaboration with Goðsögn Films and Sena. It is a masterpiece and a must-have. Jon Pall was such a great man, in so many ways. He touched everyone around him, including me when I was kid. He inspired me then and continues to do so. He was very kind and friendly in person while an absolute berserk in competition; characteristics of a true viking. This is just a preview but the whole movie is 1:45 in length. Contact Goðsögn Films to get a copy. Truly is a must-have!!!
I also wanted to clear up some inconsistencies in general as well as in the documentary concerning his death. For everyone who thinks he died from steroids, all feelings aside, lets consider the facts. Jon Pall was a man with a family inherited heart defect, not acquired after he began competing or lifting, but since he was born. And so were numerous other people in his family including his sister. This has been verified over and again by family and people that knew him closely. With his heart already weakened, consuming between 10,000 and 20,000 calories in a day, straining to exert incredible amounts of energy to lift heavily, and competing in BOTH strongman as well as bodybuilding (part of the time, which meant that he would drop and add around 60 pounds depending on the season), was an incredible burden on his heart. Now Im not saying he didnt take steroids and Im not saying he did. But what I am saying is that he didnt die from them. He died from the combination of the aforementioned factors which led to the rupture of his aorta while lifting.

Jon Pall was a good friend of mine...I cooked for him and helped with his nutrition preparations before several contests in Europe and at the Muscle Power championships in Canada...he was a great friend. Jamie Reeves (WSM, 1989,San Sebastien, Spain) and he were best friends.I can remember the night J.P,Jamie,Henning Thorsten, O.D. Wilson, myself and others went to see the second Terminator film,in Guelph, during the Muscle Power championships. The gasps in the theatre as we took our seats-WOW!

You should beware ... ( 6 days ago by helgi111)
You should beware of heavy lifting at such a young age. Your bones are still growing, but when you start heavy weight training the body puts less energy in the bones and more on your muscles, which resuslts in you being a few cm shorter than you could be when you're older.
It's better to wait until you've grown a little(I started at 17 with heavy weight lifting), But what you do is your choice
