Hi, just want to give you a piece of advice. It is very unhealthy to put two different races turtles together. One will probably die, and other would suffer of unsupported parasites... Different turtles races also mean different immunity, they both provide bacteries that are only compatible with their own race... Hope you'll do something! Regards!

Ok you need allot more water in that tank and whatever Serrov is talking about is something I have never heard about before and don't think it's true. But Snakenecks can be aggresive I would watch them closely.

technically its not low if you were intending to make that type of tank. But it would fit more for a wood turtle or mud turtles that have a possiblity of drowning.

I researched this issue a long while back to be certain that they would be happy. I concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support the concern, and introduced the sideneck turtle with the intent that if they did not get along, or became ill, or otherwise seemed unhappy, i would return the sideneck to the pet shop. Both turtles seem much happier with a companion, and have not been sick since i have had them (a little less than a year).

Thank you for your concern. I researched this extensively before introducing the two. However, I could find no evidence to support the claim. I put the two turtles together with the intent that if either seemed unhappy, aggressive, or became ill, I would return the sideneck to the pet shop. They both seem much happier with the company of the other turtle.

Pelomedusa subrufa is originally from Central Africa and Trachemys are from South America. Different species, differents environments... Though you never heard of it you could find many informations from books and specialists testimonies. Pet sellers would not tell you because they just wish to "sell", and they just don't know enough about turtles...
