The group B care were MidEngine V6TT monsters, theres no point of comparation. The actual WRC cars are amazing but no will never sound, go and make you feel the same as teh Group B.

you're reffering only to the metro6r4: mid-engine, 6cyl, aspirated, the others were mostly 4inline turbos, audi was 5inline turbo, delta s4 was 4inline with turbo and compressor.audi was front engined,r5,205,rs200 and s4 were mid engined. and the real monsters were exacltly the 4 cyl turbo and the quattro. 6r4 just couldn't keep their pace...agree with your ideea regarding wrcs :)

As much as I love racing, you'd have to be nuts to stand by cars going 60-100 MPH on dirt roads barely in controll, with no major fence between the car and you.

Just like to mention that in 2004/5/6? (cannot remember) a metro 6r4 (probably the slowest of the Groub B Cars) came 8th despite going off backwards at 80mph, and set some fastest stage times in Ireland Overal against the WRC cars (at the hands of Colin McRae RIP) just goes to show that a well driven S1/T16/S4 could possibly still win a rally even 20 years later against modern technology.

That's the main reason Group B was ended. Several spectators and a driver were killed as the car left the road.

i do think many of the "wrc" drivers today are not as good drivers as the drivers on this movie. i mean the guts it takes driving that fast on dirtroads,unbelievable!

You got to have respect to these group B drivers - they're racing against time, while drifting around corners, dodging suicidal spectators, and many of those rallying are at night not to mention in all types of terrain.

yes they do but it s a different sport and different cars u cant really compare it and to be honest i think this is more difficult then circuit racing but i could be wrong too!

These cars were insane! Before the FIA/WRC banned them, there were no restrictions on power-output. The Ford RS200 had 550 HP, Quattro had 5 Cyl Turbo with nearly 575 horse, and another car had Both Superchargers and Turbochargers! These drivers had better reaction times than the F1 Racers of the same era I think. Group be was Real Racing!
