These old Black guys are the Rock Daddies. It must have been such an honor for Stevie Ray to play with them, sort of the way John Mayer must have felt the first time he played with Clapton. I'm sad because the Rock Daddies are old, if not dead. Our rock legends of the 60's/70's are old men--Trower, Richards, Plant, etc.--but they still rock. This will probably be one of the only generations in human history that will have had such cool old people. I like the multi-racial bond this music creates.

Yeah, but this wasn't the first time Stevie played with Albert, B.B King and others.
To this show (that was in 1987) Stevie played many concerts with them all (and with some of them he even recorded some songs in the studio as well). You just name it, Albert King, Albert Collins, B.B King, Lonnie Mack, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Otish Rush, etc... He played with all of the main Rock Daddies and at the end he became one of them. One of the best blues/rock giants of all time!

With all this talk of blues Gods on one stage, I was thinking of how could one top this song? Then it occurd to me, why not put the original artist and "king of the slide guitar" Mr Elmore James, and lets compliment him with someone with more skill and soul then SRV, and that would be Mr. James Marshall Hendrix. Now that would make the sky cry~!

It's spelled Hendrix because it was changed, but originally at birth his name was: Johny Allen Hendricks, later changed to James Marshall Hendricks and finally Jimi Hendrix. And to say he has more skill than Stevie is just stupid. Stevie is the better guitar player and that's just a fact of life.

It seems the only thing stupid is your logic. Go check out any book or ask anyone and they will tell you its spelled Hendrix. Always was and will be spelled like that. Go check out one of the definitive bio's on him called Electric Gypsey by sharpo. Otherwise try backing up you opinion with some fact. Show me were its spelled like that. If not that just your opinion how its spelled. As far as Srv having more talent? its not a fact of life. Go take a poll and see who comes out on top.

If polls determined who a better player was Katy Perry would be the best musician in the world. This isn't a popularity contest you putz it's a simple analysis of guitar playing ability. Hendrix only knows one position of one scale. I mean he's a great musician, but as far as technique goes he's limited. And if you want to verify the Hendricks spelling just type Jimi Hendricks into google, or take a second read through that Electric Gypsy book because that's the book were I got this from.

i think that music is not abouut who seems better. i mean its merely opinionated questions. asking who was the greatest guitarist ever? is like asking whats your favorite color. its all opinion. me personally i beileve srv was better but you must understand that alot of his sound came from guys like hendrix and buddy guy and albert and bb king so he kind of took the best qualities of all those guys. hes thew man and the best guitarist ever. of course, thats my opinion : )

You cannot prove who the most enjoyable guitarist is (this is subjective). There is an opinion and a fact to music the sooner you realize that the better you'll be for it.
