I have never had any luck. With anything. The most money I've ever won from a lottery ticket that my grandparents presented me with on my birthday... was $2. I've never won a contest, and trust me, I've entered many. I always get stuck in the most awkward situations, like, the other day when I tripped walking UP the stairs, and almost caused a domino effect all the way to the bottom. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count all the embarrassing moments that I have had to endure. It always ends up raining when I have some event that is outdoors to go to, and when I don't and I'm stuck in my house, it is sunny and bright out.
For as far back as I can remember throughout these sixteen years of my life, I've just been waiting for something amazing to occur, something life changing.
So you can guess that I was pretty pessimistic when I entered a contest to win front row tickets and backstage passes to meet the one and only Jonas Brothers. And you would be correct. There was no other way to get tickets, though. They were all sold out.
The ticket sales for the past two concerts had caused my friends and I to want to punch our computer screens. Kayla, Brooke, and I were all sitting in front of our computers impatiently awaiting the tickets to go on sale. And when it was time, we attempted to get them. But of course, nothing.

A couple of weeks had passed since I entered the contest, and I pretty much forgot about it. What was the point in getting my hopes up anyway?
I got home from school one day, exhausted, and lay down on my bed. I turned on my iPod, smiling to myself as my favorite Jonas Brothers song, "Take A Breath" came on. After the song ended, I decided to turn on the TV. Ironically, the music video for "When You Look Me In The Eyes" was playing. I got a chill up my spine just watching Kevin, Joe, and Nick. I thought it was kinda strange that they just happened to be on when I turned on my iPod AND my TV, but it's not like I didn't mind seeing and hearing them.
I went on over to my next device, my laptop, and opened it. Joe Jonas' smiling face was staring back at me.
"Helloooo beautiful." I said outloud. He just stared back at me. I sighed and logged onto my e-mail, since I had sent myself some work that I began in school that day and needed to finish for homework.
I rarely use my e-mail, so I was surprised to see that there was another message in the inbox from a random person. I clicked on it out of curiosity, getting anxious as to what it was. I couldn't tell if the subject of the e-mail was real or fake.
I opened it and huge words flashed in front of my eyes. A part of me didn't believe what I was reading, but I knew it was legitimate. It had to be. I could feel my heartbeat getting faster, and my head began to spin out of control.
I stood up and walked away from the screen a few steps. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I was seeing correctly. I was. I immediately ran out of my room and downstairs, screaming.
"Lindsey, are you okay?!" My mom had no clue what was going on. She thought I had seen a ghost, or a tarantula or something.
"MOM! OH MY GOSH!" I was sprinting down the stairs so quickly, and before I knew it I was in the air, landing on my back, sliding down the remaining stairs and on the floor. I stared up at the ceiling, out of breathe.
My mom came over and looked down at me as I basically hyperventilated. "What in the world happened?!"
