A Texas State University student who waited to get a speeding ticket while his girlfriend's dog died in her arms has filed a formal complaint with the San Marcos police over the Aug. 5 incident.
Krystal Hernandez was holding her ailing teacup poodle, Missy, while her boyfriend, Michael Gonzalez, raced south on Interstate 35 — allegedly hitting 95 mph — toward a 24-hour veterinary clinic in New Braunfels.
After their car was pulled over sometime after midnight, the couple said they were kept waiting for 20 minutes by Officer Paul Stephens before he issued the ticket, despite their desperate pleas.
Police Chief Howard Williams said an internal investigation was begun after Gonzalez complained.

The officer states that his actions would be justified if he had had an actual child in the car with him, not "just a dog." Last time I checked, my dogs have always been my children. He could have taken the pooch and the owner to the vet in his patrol car with his sirens and lights on and then ticketed the driver afterwards. He's an idiot for not thinking of that and an asshole for not doing it. A little professionalism, please. Sue that ass!

the san marcos police dept. are arrogant and rude.
i know firsthand, when they used excessive force on a 48 women arriving to a crime scene.
she was not involved in the crime.
her sole purpose for arriving at the residence of the crime scene was to collect rent money from the owners--who were the ones in trouble.
she was tackled and beaten to the floor.
the woman had to be taken away in an ambulance, thats how bad it was.

You assume because one drives fast, they're endangering lives. Not just that, but you assume an animal's life is lesser than a humans. Some people grow more attached to their pets than they do fellow humans, with great reason, and other times animals have actually been accredited with saving human lives. I'm not some PETA freak or some shit, but looking at it from a human stand point, its simply that. And the cop was an asshole for saying, "Its just a dog." For an owner, it rarely ever is.
