Even though I already knew the result in advance of seeing this video, as the race progressed I still couldn't see how Forego was going to get up in time. Wow that was one of the most determined efforts ever!

Honest Pleasure was gifted at losing, so it was no surprise. The well beaten favorite in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness in 1976, he lost the Haskell at 11-10 the same way he did the Marlboro. Round Table set numerous records carrying huge loads- and he now seems long forgotten.

No that is the Marlboro Cup I have a copy of it, Back in 1976 the 1 1/4 mile race was a 1 turn race. The start was on the training track. This was changed when the chute was reconfigured. Now the 1 1/4 start is on the turn.

Yes, Round Table ...( 2 months ago by jhordanian)
Yes, Round Table does seem to be overlooked. He was the first great American turf horse, but he was also a superstar on dirt. He ran on both coasts and in between, and carried 130 or more numerous occassions. I think one reason he is overlooked is that he ran most of his races in Cali or Chicago and not NY. From the same crop, in 1958 Gallant Man and Bold Ruler were running in the classic NY races while RT was running in Cali, Chicago and on turf in the east. The NY bias was very strong back then
