I love John, but he could be very hateful. have you not heard "How do you sleep"? And he would not have liked this terrible version of his masterpiece. He hated all the versions The Beatles did of the song and this one is NOT better.

Some of Gilmour's stuff is OK, and Floyd managed well without Waters. My description of Waters is Great lyricist, but lousy vocalist. That said it was great to see them perform together at Live 8.

Kicking a celeb in the bag for being a prat isn't satisfying a violent urge, its merely justice served. But now we're back to sacrilege. If he didn't intend for his cover of a great song to be a masterpiece in some way then maybe he should have not bothered at all or covered some silly pop song that noone takes seriously. People who do crappy, half-assed versions of anyone else's fine work deserve-you guessed it-a kick in the bag.

No matter how he did it, there's going to be someone out there whining about it and saying it's terrible, an insult to John Lennon, blah blah blah. I just think people get too worked up about covers in general, and some people here are taking it way too seriously. JMO...

I don't think he is a lousy vocalist given the right material. I mean, can you imagine Gilmour or anyone else singing the songs he sings on The Wall for example? His voice is perfect for that kind of style.
And I don't think any of the stuff they did seperately was as good as their work together. Gilmour is fairly boring without Waters, IMO, and Waters' solo stuff suffered musically without the rest of the band's input.

Funny to see Roger grooving to pop in memory of John Lennon. Roger around this time had formally given up trying to be popular except for the one-off Radio Kaos which had some poor excuses for label-pleasing pop on it, but was all-in-all just a bad album. He found a happy medium with Amused to Death, though Pros and Cons is his best solo album and it is even more anti-pop than Final Cut, which is a Floyd classic, btw.
