Noah and his 4 new red eared slider turtles...Yes i kno they have salmonella thats why i only let my son hold them once so far. And he washed his hands after and used antibacterial hand sanitizer..he was 2 excited. And those little tanks are not there home. That was the first day we got them and we were at my in laws house so we couldnt take them home yet.

im sorry to tell you and ruin your fun but turtles under 4 in. can give you SERIOUS SALMONELLA. Itn can kill you or cause you to go in a hospital for up to 10 weeks really sick.

Uh it's not just turtle that can give you Salmonella, any other animals can give you the disease, that is if you have give your pet barely any hygiene maintenance (cleaning tank) and having low hygiene yourself.

An adult musk or mud turtle is 4 inches. So are you telling me that they give me serious salmonella while a 24" alligator snapper doesn't? Absolutely not, all turtles have some salmonella but with proper care and filtration this should never be an issue to cross your mind. People get salmonella from turtles because they don't have a filter leaving them swimming around in their waste, then touch them and not washing their hands. Don't blame the turtles blame the improper care.

That is because it feels scare in this new environment. Give it several days or even a week to adapt to its new home. It will start eating again when it feels safe. Otherwise, you may try to feed it with some living worms or shrimps that make it feels like eating as turtles love this kind of food.
