Aboriginal is the accepted term in Canada. It's the same in Taiwan, where I live. However, in the US, isn't there a lack of unity as to what people are called -- 'Indians' 'Native-americans' or the tribe name ?

Americans have always treated thier Native Culture with a lot of hatred.Canada although better,also has its indifferences with its Native people and that is wrong.
They were here long before us and they should have the power to self-govern.I love the Music and Creative Art.

the truth acceptable term is the "first nations" .i'm white and lived with the first nations in saskatchewan and the first nation population is rapidly growing.

'First Nations' is a regional term used in Canada. Other terms such as 'aboriginal' as evidenced by the aboriginal awards and festivals and even 'native indian' are still used by many native people. so it is 'policy' for us to use all terms for all of our various online projects such as videos, articles and websites.
