It was written aprox. 500 yrs after the bible. The only reason that other religions are mentioned is because Islam teaches that other religions before it are valid and meant to put humanity on the correct path of God. There are things mentioned in the Quran that would not be known in that time period. Its meant to show you a purpose and give you guidance.

You simply misunderstood the book. It doesnt spread hate or predujice. If you are a true believer in Allah you will be respected by any fellow Muslim. Do not think that we just sit around and point fingers at people and call them "Kuffar". My point is if your heart is open and ready to receive the words and wisdom of Allah you will disregard other peoples actions and be selfless, obey the rules and be content. Its not naive or fooling but meant to open your eyes.
