Uploaded by: wildstar1 Video Description:
This is a southestern five-lined skink, a young male. He lives underneath one of my planters, which also holds the butterfly feeding dish. The planters sit on top of my pet iguana's habitat. They are quite friendly towards one another and are seen frequently basking together. Also, you'll see the skink interact with some birds at the feeders too. The skink patrols this area at least once a day. He also eats fruit from the dish. These are very beneficial animals to have in your garden. They eat the insects that would otherwise harm the plants.

Too bad for the poor skinks, they're harmless animals who're just trying to make a living on this planet, like the rest of us. Besides it's mean and it's cruel to kill something for no reason. Animals have feelings too! We're all animals. Some of us are just a bit more evolved than others though.:)

Yeah I know, skins can be kinda annoying when you just try to play with them and they drop their tail and run away, but other than that I agree 100% with you

Hi again, sorry for taking so long to get back with you, been really busy.:) Yeah, I hate it when they loose their tails. They grow back, but they're never as pretty as before. I'm glad you agree, the skinks and all animals deserve a little respect. Life can be pretty unforgiving on this planet sometimes. You take care.:)
Five-Lined Skink? I ...( 3 months ago by Marpharrore)
Five-Lined Skink? I though they were called blue-tailed skinks. Huh. We see a few of these around every now and then, but I think most notable is when I went to the doctor's office and wound up catching a skink that was crawling around inside. I accidentally made it do the tail-droppy thing and I think it freaked some of the lady doctors out a bit.

We have some of those in our yard and I enjoy watching them even though the don't stick around long when we get too close to where they're basking. Anyway, nice job with this. The music fits and the photography is good. BTW, what kind of camera did you use to record this? I know for a fact that they're very skittish little creatures. Or is this one just used to people and doesn't run as readily?

Hi, thanks for watching and for the nice comment! I used a Canon Powershot, S3-IS to film. This is a wild skink, I didn't have my pet when I shot this one. After seeing so many around I became interested in studying them. Found my pet as a tiny hatchling. She just turned 1 yr old this July. Thanks for watching, have a great weekend.;)
