The reductionistic ... ( 11 months ago by smithsherman)
The reductionistic approach to time in this performance undermines the lovely tone production and sound.Notes endlessly falling on the downbeat unvaried,no contrasting of parts through a varied sync,a dictatorial central tempo enslaving most phrases.
This view of Frescobaldi is such a negative one,it's hard to brook.

That's interesting...
Perhaps you could upload or send me a recording of this piece played by someone else? A version which you like more, maybe you can change my mind :-)

It get alot from it, fun, bright, fragrant enchanting, sharp, flourishing...lovely I think Leonhardt brings the heart of frescobaldi out so well. it feels so great to hear his plays of them.

Yes, I felt the same. But I haven't really heard any other interpretations yet nor did I work on this piece yet myself. I think there's one more video of this piece on youtube, played on organ though.

WHO needs your permission! Where were you circa 1600?! ... if you are serious, your view has been like that of an arrogant pompous jerk. We have seen tons of your comments, and it seems like you enjoy using some "deceptively complicated" language
to de-grade or detract things you dont enjoy or understand. Quit that junk "smithsherman" :[ you should Acknowledge Their Effort*

On second thought, ive realized that you may not have been as serious as i took, and that your comments are your "opinions". I really think you are a great guy "smithsherman" with a incredibly complex knowledge. Though
simply this Song and play by G.Leonhardt has sailed fragrant joys through my Soul, so instinctively i was 'defensive'. Please forgive*

If his view of Frescobaldi were to be correct, then Frescobaldi was a superficial and boring metronomish pedant of the 20th century.

So which performer actually gives us a correct view of Frescobaldi, specifically this piece?
Superficial and boring metronomish recordings are .midi tracks. And this recording as far from being such a .midi computer generated track. I think Leonhardt does a lot of special things timing wise and with his articulation.

Just ignore Mrs. Sherman.
All this idiot does is waste his time and bash musicians whose interpretation doesn't match his own narrow view of beauty. Seriously, i don't know where he finds the time...oh wait, yes i do...he has no life. His account has been closed. Probably because he received so much hate mail. I feel sorry for this guy, but would still kick his ass if i saw him.
