I sing to, i have been in lots of theater performance and had singing lessons since i was 5 years old. To help you to hold the note for more time and in pitch, breath like you were drinking a coke from a straw. It really works, its called breathing with your diafram, ask oyur singing teachers for it.

Yeah, we were taught that, too, meaning when you sing your stomach seems to inflate and deflate a lot, by breathing from your diaphram and not singing from your
throat.
Something like that anyway.
