It's just Eric. He does everything so smooth and fluid. The playing really isn't that complex, its just fingerpicked chords. But when he plays it; its just.... WOW. He really can make the simplest song into a masterpiece. May you play for many long years, Eric. God Bless.

I musta played it about 5 times and gave up. I suppose if I put in the hours I'd get it eventually. Thing is he plays this accoustic version mainly on the bass strings while the studio track has about three guitars playing all over the neck. I really like his accoustic fingerpicking, "Three Little Girls", "Tears in Heaven" are all great.

I really prefer this acoustic version.... Pure, simple, and its just Clapton. If John Mayer touches this song, I swear I will SHOOT him. That guy needs to doing covers of Clapton's songs. Crossroads was alright, but only because he played WITH Clapton. His Old Love sucked. The guitar playing wasn't anything special, and his voice.... ugh it was disgusting!

This is a great song. I love Eric Clapton - like George Harrison, he brings a very earnest, plain-spoken sincerity to his songs that connects to me on an emotional level. I think he's very underrated as a songwriter (although I could do without his Phil Collins period stuff).

I have always been so much into Eric Clapton (!) but I feel that he is kind of 'fishing' for interesting chords here to fit into the 'modern' trend of songwriting. I don't mind if I make a hundred enemies here ... I only said what I think. PS. I'll listen to it a few more times - maybe it will grow on me. But, so far, none of Eric's stuff needed to grow on me. It usually always made it to me straight.

meh, your right, its right to expect him to stagnate as an artist and never change ever after a 35 year musical career, evolution is for fags

Reply to 'yourmomtwice' OK, let me just drive my point 'into the ground' again. I always looked up to Eric's stuff. He wasn't just a great guitarist, he wasn't just a guy who knew where to be at the right time to make it big. He played from his soul and sang from his heart. And I totally applaud him to move into a new way of songwriting and to not be 'stagnant'. But this song (even though it's nice) has a somewhat rambling structure of chords. PS. No need to be sarcastic about my comment
