being pro-peace is one thing, but to say that when our existence is threatened? sorry, but you have to be willing to kill if you want to exist. healthcare isn't the government's responsibility, if we'd leave the economy alone we'd have more jobs, and all that other social crap like welfare and social security will drag us down. this song isn't simply anti-war; its message is broader and and deeper than merely anti-war.

I DO NOT have to kill to exist. I exist beyond my physical self, and this is the message of this song-that in every way we are all connected to each other and everything that exists in a physical AND non-physical way. (Some will get this, some not.) Harm one, harm all. Help one, help all. And no, I'm not religious. Spiritual yes, but into any dogma, no. The world is a mess because people are. What's within a heart manifests in the world. This song's message goes beyond your comment.

i'm not disputing that we as humans exist beyond our physical selves. but that we must be prepared to lethally defend ourselves is indisputable; man will always prey upon himself, no matter how nice we want to believe ourselves to be. that's a naive view of our race. we are just as capable of brutality as we are of nobility. and we must be prepared to answer brutality with brutality. it's not as simple as you make out, and it can never be that way. that's why it's called Utopia: "No Place."

if we weren't at war ... we'd be living in under the dictates of fanatical muslims. is war a burden? yes, it is. is it necessary at times? yes, it is. is it necessary this time? absolutely. should it be over? you can't timetable victory; you have to stick it out. the side that victors is the one with the most resolve. and, if we leave now, we'll create another Afghanistan, which is why Osama Bin Laden hates us in the first place.

Did it ever occur to you that some people like myself don't focus our attention on defending ourselves? I know it's a survival thing, and when I was younger, yeah. But right now, my focus is on giving back to the world and putting some light into the darkness, and if somebody kills me for it, then oh well. I'm not afraid to die. If you read history books, you'll find that nobody but the rich REALLY win a war. Takes awhile to wrap your brain around it, but it's really more about resources.
