And it wouldn't be ... ( 2 months ago by AlanIsHarmony)
And it wouldn't be right, considering that Teenage Lament '74 was on Muscle of Love, not Billion Dollar Babies.
Back in those days, the reasons for not crediting players was because they were mates who played on mate's albums and crediting them would stop them playing, due to binding contracts.
It has nothing to do with a lack of grace on the part of the artist in question.
You missed the ... ( 2 months ago by thegirl44)
You missed the plural, "pressing of the albumS." Even paid session musicians were rarely credited eg. Tina Turner and the Ikettes work that they did with Zappa. I guess that the album graphics were a higher priority than the liner notes :).
Remember how ... ( 2 months ago by thegirl44)
Remember how elaborate the original pressing of Alice Cooper's albums were? The School's Out album folded out into a graffitied desk, the Billion Dollar babies album came with a huge bank note all intrinsically drawn. Man, I wish I still had those instead of falling into the trap of racing to get the bigger and better technology.

Very, very cool.
Not to take anything away from the original, some folks might like the (hard to find) industrial rock cover version by Raymond Watts/PIG. If I can get a turntable hooked up to a PC, I'll try and upload it.

Ah, but I assumed you were referring to the pressings of all the copies of BDB, not the collective albums of the time. Regardless, if I paid a session musician, I might not credit him either. He's paid, so I don't see a problem. Players doing it for free, however, should be credited.
I still have all my original copies, including Muscle of Love in the brown cardboard package. Mind you, I have loads of vinyl that I really should get rid of.

BTW, what's the significance of a brown cardboard box, for Muscle of Love?

Not really sure, as I remember it had handle with care stamped on it as well, didn't it? Were organs shipped in nondescript brown packaging in the 70's? I know that porn was, maybe that's the connection.
Alice Cooper is ... ( 2 months ago by dangbulang)
Alice Cooper is about the only thing I like about living in Arizona. I got to see him live twice in a little less than a year. Might I say Warrant did a smashing job opening for Alice.

I've heard and read stories that Alice and Jim Morrison were friends, but I've yet to find a photo of them together. Does anyone know if a photo exists? It's hard to believe that as famous and photographed Jim was at the time, that there wouldn't be ANY photos together with Alice! Anybody seen one???
That might be the ... ( 1 month ago by PhantomDog)
That might be the connection; inside the album cover/ cardboard box, the band were wiped out after "wrestling a beautiful female" who was a female gorilla.

I seemed to remember that gentleman's magazine tip of the hat being in one of the liner notes but I couldn't remember if it was Muscle of love. Thanks for that.

He is in the reissues but he wasn't on the original album.

They were friends. Alice Cooper was still a nobody at the time. He didn't wear make up at that point in time.
I know, but ... ( 1 month ago by stratman123)
I know, but Morrison was a star by then and was constantly being photographed. It seems like there would at least be a few photos of him with Alice if they hung out like he says they did.
They only hung out ... ( 1 month ago by ledzeppelinbojo)
They only hung out at bars and in the studio. The only pictures of Morrison are either of him with the band, magazine covers, or miscellaneous events. The Doors barely ever had pictures taken anyways let alone at the studio.

I've seen TONS of Jim Morrison by himself-in bars, in concerts, in interviews, in hotels, all over the place! I don't think him and Alice hung quite as much as Alice would have you believe. The Doors toured quite a bit. I'm sure they knew each other, but I don't know how "tight" they were.

I used to wonder if Alice was "the minister's daughter" who's "in love with a snake" that Jim sings about in "Not To Touch the Earth".

I heard it was Marc Bolan who played a guitar part on the single version of the song,as well as being on the out-take Slick Black Limosene.

Alice never seems to change: he looked 40 in 1972 and he still looks 40 in 2008 ;-)

I beg to differ. He was 24 in '72 and looked 24. Today, he appears to look to be 45 but just celebrated the Big 60 along with my dad, Robert Plant, and Gene Simmons. Long live the Baby Boomers because after they're gone, Rock will Truly be dead...

I remember listening to "Killers" album with hi-fi headphones on and dragging the record backwards and scaring the crap out of myself when I was like 13 or 14. I remember there was one certain spot on that album that hearing it backwards was creepy sounding. All people who "thinks" they hear words in anything played backwards scare to easily

This music really rose to the rareified level of the symphonic and the operatic!!!
